5 Bible verses emphasising the need for us to bear fruit in keeping with repentance

The Bible tells us that our repentance should bear fruits. These fruits show the reality that we have been changed by the Lord's grace. It is imperative that all who profess to be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ be able to show the fruit of a changed life because only then can we prove that we are indeed made new.

Paul said in Colossians 1:6 that the gospel "is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives." He continues on to explain that this change begins the moment we hear and understand the truth about "God's wonderful grace" which was generously given to us through Christ Jesus our Lord.

This grace enables us to bear the fruit of a changed life: that we would completely turn away from the sin that Christ saved us from.

Here are some Bible verses speaking of the importance of bearing fruits in keeping with repentance.

Matthew 3:7-10 – "But when [John the Baptist] saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to watch him baptize, he denounced them. "You brood of snakes!" he exclaimed. "Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don't just say to each other, 'We're safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.' That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God's judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire." Pexels
