3 ways your faith can help you succeed in whatever career you're in

God's Word encourages us that when we trust in the Lord, we will surely meet success in all that we do, including our families, ministries, businesses and careers. God loves to see His children enjoy His goodness, and it is to His glory and praise that we are prospered by Him in the things that we do.

Yet despite this fact, some Christians fail to see the blessing and prosperity that God brings to all His beloved, especially in the workplace.

Some Christians work under an unbelieving boss who tends to put them in situations where they are tempted to compromise with sin. Some Christians find themselves in seemingly unfair situations where the workload is high but the payout is low.

Some workers can't even find a good job, so they try their hands at personal micro-business, only to see it fail after getting their hopes high.

These and other things cause some people to lose their trust in God who makes all things possible.

Are you praying to the Lord for a breakthrough in your career, work or business? Here are some ways by which your faith in God can help you succeed.

1. Faith in God helps us make the right choices

God told Joshua, "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." (Joshua 1:7-8)

Because of Joshua's obedience to what God said, he was able to make the right decisions, staying away from the wrong ones. Joshua was able to focus on what God wanted him to do, and ignore everything that's wrong and unnecessary. He was also able to understand what God wanted him to do, and thus he got the success God had promised him.

2. Faith in God leads us to the right opportunities

Not all open doors should be entered. In the same way, when we acknowledge the Lord in all that we do because we trust in Him, He will direct us to where we should go (Proverbs 3:5-6). Knowing where NOT to go is as important as knowing where to go. God will direct you to where you should be, when you trust Him fully.

3. Faith in God empowers us to do what we were meant to do

We know that by faith, our labour for the Lord will never be in vain (see 1 Corinthians 15:58). Because of this we are empowered and emboldened to give our best to our work all the time. Excellence is a product of God's motivation and empowerment that were given us. When we serve the Lord, we know that He rewards us handsomely. Thus, we work at our best.
