Having close, meaningful relationships with fellow Christians from another church or denomination is a really good thing. The Bible tells us that we are all part of Christ's body, and this means that all of us need one another to grow and to pursue God's glory.
Do you have friends from another Christian church? I hope you do. If you don't have, then I suggest you pray to the Lord for one, or many such friends. You can be a blessing to one another, more than you'll ever imagine.
Here are some ways to enjoy fellowship with Christians from another church.
1. Talk about God's goodness
In the many denominations that the current Christian churches have, there's sure to be some amount of disagreements among many things. Worship music style and church building designs are but some of these. The best thing to do about it? Focus on the common ground – we are all sinners saved by grace through faith in Christ.
When you meet people from another church, choose to talk about how God saved you and how God continues to be good to all of you. Celebrate what God has done to each and every one of you. Yes, you might have differences, but God is the same good God to all.
2. Share what you learned from personal devotion times
The next best thing to do? Talk about the Word of God. Choose to focus on what the Word of God says. The Bible, all 66 books of it, was written over a long period of time, with each book hand-written by God through different authors (see 2 Timothy 3:16).
These authors came from different backgrounds. All of them lived in different times, different situations, and different cultures. Moses, who wrote the first five books of the Old Testament, was reared in Egypt but likely wrote the books in the wilderness. Paul, writer of many of the books in the New Testament, was raised up a Pharisee, but wrote his letters as a prisoner for Christ's gospel.
All of them might be different, but they all had the same message: that God is love, and in His great love sent His only begotten Son Jesus so that He could save all of us and reconcile us to Himself.
Talk about what God said. Despite your differences, God has the same Word for you all.
3. Pray for one another
The last best thing to do? Pray for one another. You can talk about many things, but when you pray for one another, you let God do what only He can do to and for each and every one of you.
Pray for one another. James 5:16 even says, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."
