3 Gifts You Can Give to Your Pastor or Church Leader This Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching, and for sure many people are busy looking for the best Christmas gift to give to their loved ones and friends. One person who would really appreciate the gift you give would be your very pastor, who is working to feed you with God's Word.

Indeed, those who labour in teaching the Word of God to people should be honoured. "Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches." (Galatians 6:6)

One of the best ways to do that is to remember these pastors and give them a thoughtful gift, even if they don't ask for it.

Are you looking for gift ideas you can give to your pastor or church leader? Here are three gift ideas.

1. A Short Vacation

Pastors and other church leaders who work tirelessly to teach, guide, and remind people of God's Word, as well as counsel, pray for, and support members in time of need are faced with stress in varying levels. One way to bless them is to offer them a short respite this season.

You can ask others to contribute to the cause, or if you can afford it yourself you can give the pastor even just a one-night stay in a nice place with his wife and kids. You can offer to do some helpful things, such as cleaning the church hall or keeping in touch with members, while the pastor rests.

2. A New Bible of His Preferred Version

How about giving your pastor a new Bible this Christmas? Buy one that he can use to study or bring wherever he goes to preach and teach. It's still one of the best gifts – enough for God to give us the best version of it.

John 1:14 says that "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." In His first coming, the arrival of which happened that Christmas eve, Christ fulfilled all the prophecies concerning Him, and met all the requirements of the law as stated in the Bible. He is the Word given flesh.

3. A Commitment to Pray for Him and His Family for a Year (to Be Renewed Yearly)

Another great thing that you can give your pastor is a commitment to pray for him and his family daily for a year. It's something that might not sound like a costly thing, but it actually is (it costs time and deliberate effort). It's also more powerful than most of us know.

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence." (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
