2016 U.S. presidential poll news: Majority of Republicans advocating for unity behind Trump

According to the Monmouth University poll released this Wednesday, a vast majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters are now advocating for the party to unite behind Donald Trump, pushing him forward as the Republican House candidate for the 2016 presidential race, reports Politico

CNN points out that Trump just recently won over 58 delegates with his most recent win in Arizona. According to the Politico report, this places Trump within 500 delegates less of securing his place as the GOP nominee for the presidential elections. It is noted that the total goal Trump and the other candidate hopefuls are shooting for 1,237 delegates.

It is also noted that if Trump should fail to hit those numbers, a resounding 54 percent of the poll respondents stated the party should support Trump anyway. Only a third of the poll total stated that they should support someone else if Trump fails to hit the necessary number of delegates behind him and only 7 percent stated they were unsure.

Among those who stated someone else should be considered, 33 percent stated that the party should rally behind Texas Senator Ted Cruz while 23 percent cited they preferred Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Only 10 percent were in favor of rallying behind Florida Senator Marco Rubio and only 5 percent were in favor of retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

The report states that Trump claimed his supporters would go on a riot if he were to leave the convention defeated. He also pointed out that his supporters would then sit out the general election if he were not the chosen nominee, preferring not to vote if they could not vote for Donald Trump.

That's according to Trump -- according to the polls, 43 percent would vote for a different GOP candidate in November if Trump was not the chosen nominee. Thirteen percent claimed they would vote for a third-party candidate and only 7 percent stated they would support a Democratic candidate if Trump were not the GOP nominee.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
