Xiaomi is known to produce reasonably priced phones. Many would expect that it would also just be an ordinary smartphone, but not the Redmi Note 4. It is equipped with a deca-core Mediatek Helio X20 chipset processor clocking at 2.1 GHz and priced at US$239.99

The Redmi Note 4 also contains Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB via a MicroSD card. It is a dual-SIM phone, offering one micro and one nano-SIM card slot, the latter is also used for the expansion card. There is also a variant that has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage which is priced at US$179.99.

It also comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display screen, offering a resolution of 1080 x 1920p and 401 ppi pixel density. It also brings in a 13-MP rear camera equipped Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), an aperture of f/2.0, and dual-tone LED flash. It also features digital zoom, geo-tagging, and a self-timer. The front contains a 5-MP camera for selfies and video conferences.

Connectivity includes 2G/3G/4G, a dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and OTG support. A 4,100 mAh battery is included in the packaged, a heavy-duty battery compared to those of other models. The battery supports rapid charging, but it only comes with a micro USB and not the Type C one.

Android Central was able to get hold of a Redmi Note 4 unit and was able to explore it further. It stated that it looks similar to the Redmi Pro. It offers a nice grip, but the smooth back shows a "hint of cheapness." However, it has a metal unibody, and it contains a 2.5D curved glass. It is also thinner, but heavier compared to the Note 3.

Out of the box, the Note 4 contains an Android 6.0 Marshmallow but is overlaid with Xiaomi's own user interface, the MIUI 7.3. It also has a fingerprint sensor and an IR port which could make it a universal remote controller as well.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 3 GB/64 GB variant is available for US$239.99 from the company's website while the 2 GB/16 GB variant is priced at US$179.99. The company offers the gadget in the colors Silver, Gold, and Gray, and the devices are now ready for shipping.
