Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 leaks: Tablet shows specs in benchmark test

Back in December, rumors about the existence of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 emerged. It wasn't almost a year later when the tablet showed up to be certified in China's 3C Certification agency that this report was followed up. Now, more info about the device comes to light.

This time, it hails straight out of a Geekbench benchmark test where some of the specs of the slab were shown. It was revealed there that the device will get 2 GB RAM with the tested prototype running Android 5.1 Lollipop.

When the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 first passed 3C Certification, there were reports that it will run on Windows 10 as Xiaomi that time was testing the Microsoft-made software for some of its devices. But with Lollipop on board, it seems that it will stick with Android for this iteration.

The biggest take away from the benchmark test is the new tablet from Xiaomi sourcing its power from a quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor that is clocked at 2.24 GHz, which helped the device score 985 points (single-core) and 3268 points (multi-core).

At the moment, this is the only info rumor mills have on the device, though Phone Arena says that the new iteration of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will still sport the original's 7.9-inch glass. But until the China-based tech firm itself makes things official, it is recommended to take the report with a pinch of salt.

It is unclear when Xiaomi will officially lift the veil off the Mi Pad 2, although reports suggest that the long-rumored tablet will be launched next month together with the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5.

It is being said that come Dec. 3, this pair of new mobile products will be made official. If this is really the case, more details about the device should be available. But whether or not the time really has come for the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 to shine, only time will tell.
