The Queen held the titles Supreme Governor of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith, but she had a personal and lifelong Christian faith that she often shared publicly. Here are some of the things she said about it over the years.

"I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong. "Christ not only revealed to us the truth in his teachings. He lived by what he believed and gave us the strength to try to do the same – and, finally, on the cross, he showed the supreme example of physical and moral courage."
