In the last episode of "The Blacklist" season 2, Red decided to kidnap Cabal leader Kenneth Jasper. In the upcoming episode titled "Karakurt," Cabal looks for payback for what Red did.

However, Red and Liz won't only be dealing with one person in this episode. It appears that the group Cabal is setting up an attack that the duo needs to stop.

Quon Zhang has smuggled an assassin into the U.S. and his name is Karakurt. Liz knows this information as Quon Zhang revealed it to her during the interrogation. But although Liz has the information, it's not going to be an easy task for the FBI to locate and arrest Karakurt. In fact, Liz and Ressler are going to be faced with a very dangerous situation when they meet with Russian intelligence officials. The two want to get more information on the killer, but the Russians bring more information than expected as it includes details about her past and her mother.

In the preview for the next episode, Red talks to Liz with such an urgency that they need to catch the assassin right away. But the most intriguing part of the preview is when Liz walks right into a bomb explosion. Ressler's face shows deep concern. If she isn't okay, hell will break loose once Red finds out.

The official synopsis goes:

Following intel from Red, the FBI find themselves one-step behind the most dangerous Russian Assassin, Karakurt, an enemy on U.S. soil. To avoid catastrophe, Liz and Ressler meet with Russian Counter-Intelligence who offer insight not only on Karakurt, but also on the identity of Liz's mother. Cooper finds himself in a compromising position."

There are only two episodes left this season. "The Blacklist" season 2 episode 21 will air on Thursday, May 7, on NBC.
