'Amazing Spider-Man 3' rumors: Gwen Stacy returning? How could that be possible?

Is there a Spidey fan who wasn't surprised at what happened in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" ending? Just when things got better between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, that's when Gwen met her demise in the hands of the Green Goblin. Sadly, Peter wasn't able to save her on time.

Fans of the "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise love the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. It's hard for them to accept that Emma won't play the love interest of Peter Parker anymore. But with talks of "The Amazing Spider-Man 3," there are also rumors that Stone might reprise her role as Gwen Stacy, which pretty much hints that the character will rise from the dead.

There have been speculations about how Gwen Stacy will be alive in "The Amazing Spider-Man 3." According to Movie Pilot, it could involve The Jackal, a villain in Spider-Man's world.

The possible plot starts with Professor Miles Warren, a teacher at Empire State University. While teaching there, Gwen Stacy becomes one of his students and he falls in love with her. When he finally learns about Gwen's death, he immediately blames Spider-Man for it. Due to his love for Gwen, he invests his time and effort into cloning so he could bring Gwen back to life... as a clone.

Professor Warren later takes on the name The Jackal and after many attempts, he is able to make clones of both Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. But at this point in time, Peter is already very much in love with Mary Jane Watson.

If this plot does come to fruition, Peter will have no choice but to take down Gwen Stacy's clone as she is a work of a mad scientist. However, Movie Pilot notes that the Peter Parker clone will still exist and the real Peter will start to wonder who he really is. In the end, he will have to dig deep and rely on his strong feelings for Mary Jane to prove he is the real one.

There is still a lack of details about "The Amazing Spider-Man 3."  All fans know is, its release date has been moved another year and there's been talks about Marvel getting Spider-Man as well. But if the third installment does come out, would avid Spidey fans think that this story is good enough?
