Rowdy Roddy Piper aka Roderick George Coombs died of heart attack caused by a blood clot in his lungs.

This was first reported by TMZ Sports after an official copy of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Legend's death certificate was obtained.

Based on the findings, it was learned that Piper had been suffering from hypertension for quite some time, leading to high blood pressure. Piper passed away last July 30 and his body was discovered only the day after (Aug. 1).

The untimely demise came as a surprise to the WWE world, although many knew of the battles that Piper had gone through in his life. Most notable was, of course, the discovery that the wrestler had Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2006. Piper was declared cancer-free just last November.

Piper was an iconic heel during his days, feuding with Hulk Hogan and Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka. Known to resort to dirty tactics, he had lived out his heel character until he officially retired from active duty after Wrestlemania III.

Aside from getting it on in the ring, Piper had his own segment called Piper's Pit. It was here where he would bash and criticize other wrestlers for their achievements and performance, often getting 'rowdy' and physical, making him one of the hated and controversial wrestlers the WWE has ever had.

Piper would eventually become a face wrestler and would be loved by fans. He was known to stand up to anyone regardless of the odds, using various tactics that endeared him all the more.

Last July, Piper had a feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin concerning his podcast. Apparently Piper singled out Austin as the reason why his podcast Piper's Pit was being moved out of service. Piper would alter on apologize to Austin.
