'Narcos' season 2 to end the series?

It was previously reported that the people behind "Narcos" may be able to push forward with future seasons even if season 2 concludes the story of Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). However, rumors are now spreading across the web that season 2 may as well be the very last season for the show.

According to a report from Master Herald, the death of Pablo Escobar is not the only problem that the studios are facing but it is one of the bigger hurdles to address. Season 1 ended in circa 1992 and Escobar died by 1993, limiting the scope of the story they can tell in season 2, given that season 1 covered over 15 years of Escobar's life.

Speaking to /Film, producer Eric Newman addressed this problem and stated that if they could, they would keep Escobar around but this would only ruin the series given that they would be altering the true events.

"Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show. He will die," he confirmed. "There are any number of things that can happen after. We have not committed to one or the other. Obviously, there are a lot of other stories in this world that continue on beyond him."

However, the bigger issue for fans is the fact that season 2 no longer has a traditional showrunner. Adam Fierro, who handled season 1, stepped down even before the season 1 finale was finished. The rest of the season had to be handled by director-producer Jose Padilha, the producers and the writers.

According to the report, Fierro did complete writing the script for season 2, which is why there has been no move to replace him. With that in mind, season 2 will move forward without any showrunner, being handled only by the team mentioned above. This is also one of the myriad of reasons fans believe the second season may be delayed.

Fans fear that the lack of a single person's direction could lead to the series being cancelled, particularly if season 2 does not fare as well as the first one.

In the UK, gender equality conversations often focus on pay gaps or female representation in leadership, but in Nepal the struggle is far more basic. It is whether a girl can go to school, whether a woman can seek medical care without permission from her husband, and whether she can live in her own home without fear.
