The upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas will showcase some of the biggest hardware upgrades coming this year. One of the tech firms attending the tech expo is Lenovo, which has previously announced its latest lineup of ThinkPad laptops ahead of the CES. The highlight of the new laptop models is the jump to 8th-generation Intel Core chips, plus a special webcam security covers for some of the regular ThinkPads.

As reported by Trusted Reviews, the 2018 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops that are set to appear at the CES 2018 next week will boast Intel's 8th-generation Core i processors. These next-gen chipsets will offer a big boost in processing power and speed, not to mention a more efficient energy consumption. The RAM capacity of most of the upcoming ThinkPads is increased to 32GB of DDR4 memory with 2,400MHz clock speed.

All of the new Lenovo ThinkPad 2018 models are getting the upgrade to 8th-gen Intel Core processors, including the regular ThinkPad X280 and the top-tier ThinkPad L38 Yoga, which is suited for professional and business-related tasks. Majority of the ThinkPad laptops arriving this year are expected to receive a PCIe SSD storage boost to 1TB. Those ThinkPads with no PCIe SSD configuration like the ThinkPad X280 and ThinkPad T480 can be altered to achieve the same 1TB storage.

The high-end 2018 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops are also expected to feature dedicated graphics cards, particularly the Nvidia GeForce MX150 for the ThinkPad T480s, T480, and T580. To note, the Lenovo T series laptops have previously used AMD Radeon 530 graphics cards.

Shifting the attention to the 2018 X series Lenovo ThinkPads, the regular X280 laptop is revealed to get a special webcam protection to increase the privacy control of the snapper. This physical camera protection is called the "ThinkShutter," which can be slided across the turn off the webcam. This webcame cover is included in some of the new T series ThinkPads as well, according to The Verge.

The 2018 Lenovo ThinkPad laptops will be available in the market following their official launch at the CES 2018 this January. The ThinkPad X280 will get a starting price of $999, while the professional class ThinkPad X380 Yoga will cost around $1,459. The starting prices for the L series and T series ThinkPads, respectively, are $609 and $989.
