Although many thought it would not be possible, "House of Cards" season 5 just got more star-studded with the addition of two acting veterans to the cast.

Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott were both tapped to join Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in the new season of the hit Netflix series.

Their roles are being kept secret at the moment, but The Hollywood Reporter says that they will get a great deal of screen time in "House of Cards" season 5.

Whether they will be friend or foe to Frank Underwood remains to be seen, but it looks like the White House will be shaken up come the new season.

The casting of Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott is the latest news on "House of Cards" season 5 following the exit of Mahershala Ali, who played Remy Danton in the first four seasons.

Neve Campbell and Joel Kinnaman, who debuted on the fourth season of the series, are expected to be back as well and with even a more significant impact on the lead characters.

Both will continue to set out bringing Frank down in "House of Cards" season 5. The former plays Leann Harvey, the campaign manager for Claire (Wright) who has a complicated connection with Frank's most trusted ally, Doug (Michael Kelly).

Kinnaman plays the role of Will Conway, who is Frank's rival for the presidency. As the "Suicide Squad" actor described his character in a Wall Street Journal interview, Will is "Ian opponent [Frank] hadn't faced before."

In a separate interview with Yahoo, Kinnaman teased that there's so much to learn about Will in "House of Cards" season 5. "I think we just scratched the surface, and that's how the character was pitched to me — that it was a character that had many different layers," the actor said.

"House of Cards" season 5 is currently filming and is expected to premiere early next year on Netflix.
