The Bible says that God has lavished His love on us. But as limited and as simple-minded as we humans can be, we could never fully understand the depths and the greatness of the love of God for all of us. We all have a preconceived notion of what "love" is. However, God's love is different: it's no ordinary love.

Unlike the depictions and stories of love that the world presents, God's love for us is absolutely astounding and wonderful. We are His creation, and because He loves us, He sent His one and only begotten Son to pay for our sins and provide the way for us to be reconciled with Him – at a cost that He had to pay for Himself. There's not one love story that could ever compare to that.

Here are some Bible verses you can meditate and memorise to tell you how deep God's love is for you and for me.

John 3:16-17 – "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

1 John 3:1 – "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him."

Romans 8:38-39 – "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[p] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Galatians 4:4-7 – "But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that He could adopt us as His very own children. And because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, 'Abba, Father.' Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you His heir."

Romans 5:7-9 – "Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation."
