Have you ever felt like you're never good enough for anything? Like, you do all that you can do to achieve something, or you give your best shot at something, but still your efforts are found lacking or left wanting?

If you said yes to that, then you know just how it feels to be "inadequate."

Friends, many of us feel like we're not good enough. Many of us feel that we'll never be good enough. And no matter what we do, many of those who hate us or at least dislike us will always say we'll never be good enough.

Truth is, friends, is that we really aren't good enough. The Bible tells us that all of us have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (see Romans 3:23. Because of this, not one of us is good enough, even in the sight of God.

God's redeeming love, however, is able to change that fact.

While no one is good enough, the Bible says Christ made up for our inadequacies:

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Now, through Christ's atoning death and resurrection, all who believe in Him are made righteous, are given the right to become children of God (see John 1:12), and are given the Holy Spirit - the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead (see 2 Corinthians 1:22; Romans 8:11).

If we are in Christ, we have the Spirit of God living inside of us (see 1 Corinthians 3:16). Because the Holy Spirit of God lives in us, we should be assured that we are good enough. We might not be good enough in the sight of man, but in the sight of God, we are because we believe in Christ.

To help encourage those who feel that they're never good enough, here are some verses to meditate on.

If we are in Christ, the Spirit that raised Him gives us life as well - Romans 8:9-11

"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."

If we love God, all things that happen to us, whether bad or good, will be for good - Romans 8:28-30

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."

We are more than conquerors through the love of God - Romans 8:37-39

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
