'Vampire Diaries' season 7 spoilers: 'Concept episode' 10 to focus on Damon Salvatore

After being in cahoots with their mother for the longest time, it seems like Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) will be affected by his mother Lily's (guest star Annie Wersching) death in the 10th episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7.

According to a spoiler from Entertainment Weekly, Damon will become the center of attention in the episode titled "Hell Is Other People." Damon will find himself in almost all the scenes in the episode leading to the death of his mother.

In a recent interview with Variety, Somerhalder talked about what fans should look forward to in "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 10, which he considers a concept episode. According to the actor, the episode will be solely about his character.

"The episode was really about Damon, but that's not why I think it was the best at all. The way the story was put together ... every artisan from set to producers to wardrobe to everyone was just so on-point," Somerhalder shared.

The actor also teased a little description about the episode, saying: "It was a Civil War episode. I was covered in dirt and gunpowder with things blowing up around me. From a Monday to a Friday, I lost six pounds."

In addition, Somerhalder said viewers of the show will see a different side of Damon in the particular episode. However, the actor did not reveal whether the eldest Salvatore sibling will be good or bad in this installment of the supernatural drama series.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 10 will air on Jan. 29.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for the this week's episode 9 of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 reads:

"With the holidays in full swing, a search for Julian leads Damon and Stefan to a small town outside of Mystic Falls. While managing a holiday toy drive at Whitmore College, Bonnie (Kat Graham) seeks help from Nora (guest star Scarlett Byrne) and the two strike up an unlikely friendship. Elsewhere, Caroline (Candice King) does her best to navigate her new life as a pregnant vampire, while Alaric (Matt Davis) grows concerned that the pregnancy is effecting her more than she's letting on. Finally, after finding himself at odds with Damon, Stefan is forced to take matters into his own hands, setting off a tragic chain of events that leaves their lives changed forever."
