Mirror's Edge Catalyst 2016 release date for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in February

After almost a decade, a new Mirror's Edge video game by EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (EA DICE) is expected to be released in February.

The new first person adventure video game called "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is a prequel to the previous "Mirror's Edge" game which was released back in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game consoles, followed by a release for the PC in 2009.

The original Mirror's Edge game was successful, according to several reviews, and had sold about 2.5 million copies, according to EA Games. The new Mirror's Edge Catalyst is expected to be launched by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows platforms.

Formerly known as Mirror's Edge 2, the new title of the game was unveiled just this month before the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 (E3 2015) took off in Los Angeles. The developer has confirmed the game to be an upcoming prequel, not a sequel, to the previous 2008 video game, focusing on the main character's past life.

EA DICE also unveiled a new video trailer, showing the game's quality and plot, at E3 2015. The trailer was also released to Youtube.

Like in previous games, players will have control over Faith Connors, the main character, and journey across the new "City of Glass" by running, climbing and jumping, among other parkour movements. But according to a report, unlike in previous games, Mirror's Edge Catalyst will let players roam and navigate more freely around environments to complete missions and objectives.

According to the Mirror's Edge Catalyst website, the new game is already available for pre-ordering and will first be available in North America on February 23, 2016, in Europe on February 25, and in the U.K. on the following day.
