Over 5,000 gathered at London’s Wembley Arena last night to hear an inspirational message by Joel and Victoria Osteen of Lakewood Church, the largest church in the US.
“Don’t magnify your problems, magnify God,” Joel Osteen told the crowd.
He went on to share his life story, starting from when he was a college student in Oklahoma, to the moment he met his wife Victoria at a jewellery shop in Houston, to when he gave his first “nervous” sermon at Lakewood Church.
Joel also gave a message about living a positive life in God’s favour. “You need to see yourself the way you want to be,” he encouraged the crowd.
“It’s not enough to see it - you need to learn to say it.”
He emphasised that we are children of the Most High God, and because of this, we must live favour-minded.
Victoria Osteen later took to the stage, urging the crowd to “encourage one another, starting with your mouth”.
Joel and Victoria Osteen weren’t the only ones who graced the stage. Joel’s mother, Dodie Osteen, also came on to testify how God saved her from severe liver cancer in 1981, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. The Osteens’ two children, Jonathan and Alexandra, also shared a Bible verse and sang on stage.
The Osteens kicked off their UK tour Tuesday at the Odyssey Arena Belfast in Northern Ireland and will speak at the NEC Arena in Birmingham tonight.
‘A Night of Hope’ featured praise, worship and prayer with electrifying music from Dove Award-winning Cindy Cruse Ratcliff and the Lakewood band and ensemble.
Lakewood Church of Houston, Texas, is the largest and fastest growing church in the US with nearly 40,000 attendees.
Lakewood Church’s weekly services are also broadcast on television in the US and around the world in over 100 nations.
According to Nielsen Media Research, Joel Osteen is the most watched minister in the US and reaches 95 per cent of all US television households.
In 2005, Lakewood began holding worship services in its new 16,000-seat facility in Houston. The facility, formerly known as the Compaq Centre and home to the Houston Rockets, was acquired by Lakewood in January of 2004 and took 18 months to renovate at a cost of $95m.
Lakewood Church is now one of the largest regularly attended worship centres in the world.
Joel Osteen has been named the “Most Influential Christian in America of 2006” by the readers of The Church Report magazine.
In addition, Osteen’s first book, Your Best Life Now, went to Number 1 on the New York Times bestseller list and has sold over four million copies since its release in October 2004. The book is now available in 19 languages.

There are so many things to which one can comment on here. I am not a follower, nor do I regularly tune in to Joel Osteen’s programs. However, I have listened to a few of his presentations to know his presentations are mentally sound and spiritually strong.
His willingness to affirm the giftedness of his audience is no different than Jesus pulling the children to him and applauding their youthful energy and passion for wanting to live the good life.
While the strength of your beliefs are in what you have read about what Jesus may or may not have done, the truth is, you as well as I are faced not with living our lives back in 30 B.C. You and I are faced with meeting the demands for love in the year 2007. And, right now…I believe you will agree…you are loved and loved right now unconditionally by God.
You did not earn the giftedness you have. You did not have to earn your blessings. The life before you was granted without request or fee. This life we live with The Father always close and near to us is a blessing given to us freely without suffering or stains of blood upon a cross. The grand scheme of things, from the very beginning, was that you should enjoy the life you have and share that life with others so they might want the good life always.
All Osteen is saying is “What YOU do with that giftedness is totally up to you.” You can be delusional and ignore your magnificense…But, don’t be suprised when the end result would be days feeling without gifts or blessing. Because you ignore the gifts does not mean they have disappeared. Or because you have nailed a man to a cross does not mean they have disappeared. There is always room to be loved in the heart of the God you have known for years.
As hard as it is for you to hear, read, or watch happen, the opportunity to enjoy the true peace and happiness of what God offers is ALWAYS ready for your use. It is for this very reason Jesus dies on the cross; to prove death has no power over the granduer of The Father’s love. The same would be true of you, me, our mothers, or fathers.
If you want to speak about there being a Great Satan out there who fights against every thing you try to accomplish that is good …you’re free to do so. BUT, do not complain when your days are full of conflict, suffering, and depressing thoughts and bad moments. Conflict, sin and Satan is what you have focused on…Conflict, sin, and Satan is what you will to experience. God is still gonna love ya! And, your gifts are still there for your use. What a deal!
Does this mean its okay to beat the crap out of somebody. No, its delusional to THINK a lie is a good thing. Until one recognizes his life of lies he or she will their selves to experience plenty of false experiences of empty happiness and love.
Osteen’s perspective is to choose not to give “sin” aire time. He wants ONLY to focus on his message he feels compelled to explain; you are were designed to be a success from the very beginning, so live out the life you were meant to. Osteen’s perspective is to choose to focus on what we CAN control in the life we have been given freely by God to enjoy in the Kingdom of God. Sin, being the lie that it is, is an illusion that always morphs into something else. This is why living a life of lies is so unstable. BUT, what IS real are the gifts and blessings we have been granted FREELY.
In the end, where you presently find yourself spiritually is okay. Perhaps your message from the God who loves you is different for the ones you are afforded time to lead. Lead them well with love as your guide. Eventually, like you, we all will discover a truly great relationship is waiting for us with a God who apparently loves us without err.

Joel Osteen is a false prophet in every way. He may have the largest church in America, but he is leading his 40,000 members straight to hell with his prosperity Gospel.

Joel Osteen has done a marvelous job with his words of encouragement through God's words.He has encouraged me to become closer to God. Since I started listening to his sermons on the internet everynight my life has been changed.

The first time we heared Pastor Joel Osteen it was last sunday 08-19-07 talking about believe you shall receive don't let poeple to discourage you that you can not do it, and from that day I believed in me that all things are possible in GOD. Pastor Joel Osteen has been truly anointed to give people around the world the true picture of God which is LOVE. Dear Pastor Joel. I have watched your sermon on the Christian channel TBN offered by the local TV cable provider. I personally thank God for giving you the talent for conveying God's good news and words in a very special, friendly, easy-to-grasp and mind-opening way. I believe and hope that more and more people will know the truth and be saved. However, starting from 1st October 2007 I would have to switch and buy a satellite in the hope and order of receiving TBN broadcast as the Islamic corrupt government has banned TBN Christian channel from broadcasting to Indonesia. All I know is that I've never felt so at home than I do when I attend Lakewood Church. I never liked church growing up. I always thought it was a" grown-up" thing to do, but I as I grew up and had my own children I "feel" the power and presence of the Lord in my life. HE always protects me and my family and always makes up for pain/troubles a million times more. Joel and Victoria are very inspiring ..a perfect example of what a married couple should be in God's eyes.
I look forward to my journey with GOD even when I don't understand it.

I attended Joel's Ministry at the Wembley Arena, it was a most Inspirational time for me, I had ask a friend to attend with me, not knowing what to expect. Pastor Joel/Victoria,
I was so glad to be there at Wembley on the 6th of July. I brought my family to come and experience the truth in simple terms and with so much clarity. I watch Lakewood church programme everyweek and also get the podcasts on my ipod which i often listen to my long tube journeys to work. May God continue to bless you, your family and everyone that is touched by the words that God sends out to us through you.

Pastor Osteen,
You have encouraged a great many people. But many of our brothers and sisters are suffering terribly for their faith in other countries. Would we as Christians who are not persecuted in such a way stand as they do and as the disciples in the Bible. Hebrews 11 is great inspiration.

Dear Pastor Joel and Victoria, I have been fervent a listener of your messages. Your simple messages of hope and inspiration as turned my life aroung. I will never forget one of your popular phrases in one of your nemerous messages that says ' when you are right and rude then you are wrong' This simple but life transforming words as help me a great deal in my life expecailly when I am dealing with difficult people. I was delighted when I heard you were coming to the UK. My hopes were very high as I have always dreamt of seeing you live and getting you to sign my copy of your book, Your Best Life Now. But last minute hiccups did not make this dream a reality this time around. However I have learnt from your messages never to loose hope and I am still hoping and having the faith that one day I will get see you Live ! I have been constant in watching Paster Joel every Sunday morning. So have many, many of my friends and relatives. For my family, we were hurt terribly by our first church which we were tithe giving and held position in ministry. My husband was so hurt by what happened, he wouds shutter at the word church.
God's wisdom in my constant watching of your sermons and recieving the word from Pastor and Victoria, has led him to get up before me some mornings and say ok, he's almost on.
I can't explain how you as a pastor are different from all the other Bishop's Apostle's and all the other titles people seem to want to hold on to. I just know deep in my soul, that I personally carry you and your family in daily prayer and think of you every day after reading your word.
Some people seek greatness. Other people are given greatness. Just by being compliant with the word of God.
May He bless your life, the life of your family and prosper you whether you ask or not. Blessings as well to your brother and mother. May every good thing be bestowed upon them for ever and ever.
