'Insurgent' movie news: Website for upcoming 'Divergent' films to be launched

With just five months until the release of the highly anticipated "Divergent" sequel, fans are starting to demand more information about the "Insurgent" movie.

Little is known about the status of the upcoming film, which is why Lionsgate decided to come up with a new website dedicated to providing fans with the latest news and tidbits about "Insurgent" and the other upcoming installments from the "Divergent" franchise.

Fan-made website The Faction Four mentioned a week ago that the film production outfit will be re-launching the site divergentthemovie.com although it will use the Web address thedivergentseries.com. The new website will focus on news and snippets about the remaining films in the "Divergent" trilogy, namely "Insurgent" and "Allegiant."

Meanwhile, Lionsgate had released several promos for "Insurgent."

Yesterday, an image was posted on the trilogy's official Facebook page. The post, which offered a definition of the word "insurgent," was captioned: "What is your definition of Insurgent? #TruthIsComing"

The first was posted on the series' official website on Oct.15, where a quote from author Veronica Roth had been posted.

It said, "People are layers and layers of secrets."

It also came with the caption: "Dig deep enough and the truth will be revealed. #TruthIsComing"

The "Insurgent" movie, as well as the other films in the "Divergent" series, is adapted from the dystopian trilogy with the same title. It was written by Veronica Roth. Unlike the first film which was directed by Neil Burger, this installment is being helmed by Robert Schwentke.

Shailene Woodley will reprise her role as Tris Prior. She will be joined by other recurring cast members, including Theo James who will again play the role of Four Eaton, Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior, Kate Winslet as Jeanie Matthews, Ashley Judd as Natalie Prior, Maggie Q as Tori Wu, Zoe Kravitz as Christina, Jai Courtney as Eric, and Ray Stevenson as Marcus Eaton.

New characters will be introduced in this film. Naomi Watts will play the role of Evelyn Johnson-Eaton, Octavia Spencer will be Johanna Reyes, Daniel Dae Kim will be Jack Kang, and Rosa Salazar will take on the role of Lynn.

"Insurgent" will be released on March 20, 2015.
