The Golden State Warriors will still have the Brazilian power forward Anderson Varejão, for another year at least.

League sources told ESPN that the Warriors and the 33-year-old center/power forward had agreed to a one-year-deal that will extend his stay in Oakland, CA.

Varejão joined the Warriors' roster before the end of the 2016 trade deadline after he was waived following his transfer to the Portland Trail Blazers after playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers for 11 seasons.

The deal will reportedly give Varejão a $1.55 million pay check because of his veteran status.

The Warriors had to let go six of their players from the previous seasons due to the staggering deal made between the team and former Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant. This includes power forward Marreese Speights, center Festus Ezeli, shooting guard Brandon Rush, shooting guard Leandro Barbosa, small forward Harrison Barnes, and center Andrew Bogut.

Meanwhile, speculations claim that the Warriors are also considering to acquire Durant's former team mate Russell Westbrook by trading center Draymond Green. But the rumors have yet to be addressed by both camps, since Westbrook was also reportedly in talks with the Boston Celtics.

Other news claims that the Warriors are also planning to get former Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders out of retirement to fill in the role left by Bogut after his trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

Sanders left the league since 2014 with a record of 6.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 19.8 minutes of average playing time per game. He could split playing time with fellow big men Varejão and Zaza Pachulia off the bench during a Warriors' game.

The Stephen Curry-led roster of Golden State Warriors will need all the help they can get in order to return to the NBA finals for the 2016-2017 season to restore the crown that was taken away from them by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the end of the 2015-2016 season.
