'Elder Scrolls 6' release date news: No official updates for a 'very long time'

The wait for the successor of 'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' continues. Bethesda Softworks

Speculations about the release of the next "Elder Scrolls" game abound in the Internet but according to a report from Dual Shockers, Bethesda Vice President of Marketing Pete Hines stated at this year's Gamescom event that it will be a "very long time" before fans hear of any official talk about "The Elder Scrolls VI."

According to Hines, the reason why there won't be any updates on another "Elder Scrolls" title is because the company is putting all of their efforts on "Fallout 4" which is scheduled for release on Nov. 10. He stated that the entire studio is focused on the project.

The report also cites that in addition to "Fallout 4," the company is also focused on "The Elder Scrolls Online," which recently saw the release of a console version. The company, alongside ZeniMax Online Studios, is currently working on new DLC content for this year and for 2016. For the time being, this will be the "Elder Scrolls" game that will receive constant updates and news.

"Fallout 4" has yet to be finished and the studios will still have to work on creating DLC and mod support, as well as future patches to address any issues that may arise when the game is finally launched to the public.

The report also adds that Bethesda tends to focus on just one game at a time and that their studio size is currently just over a hundred employees, roughly the same amount of people that worked on "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." With all of the people in the studio working on "Fallout 4," it will be some time before they shift their attention to the next "Elder Scrolls" title.

However, this doesn't mean that there aren't rumors speculating what the next game will be about. According to GamingBolt, there is a chance that the game will be set in the Summer Isles in order to shift the focus away from human politics and instead focus on the Aldmeri Dominion. This would make it similar to the setting seen in "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind."
