'Downton Abbey' season 5 episode 4 spoilers: More issues from Sarah and Shrimpie's shocking news

The cast of Downton Abbey is back for a thrilling fourth episode. Stonehengetours

New details on the new episode of the drama series, "Downton Abbey" are out.

In the third episode of the season, Mary (Michelle Dockery) became unpredictable as she and Gillingham (Tom Cullen) started getting a little too cozy in Liverpool, only to remain indecisive to pursue further any love connection, especially with Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden) still lingering in the background.

While the lady's resolution for the whole thing is still hazy, Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier) in contrast, was shown to have a clear mind after he decided to "choose his own path."

Also, Simon Bricker (Richard E Grant) was seen to be all out with his strong affection for Cora (Elizabeth McGovern), while Violet's (Maggie Smith) secret, likely a past romance with Prince Kuragin, appeared to shake up the present. Bates (Brendan Coyle) and his apparently twisted defense statements suggested his involvement in Green's (Nigel Harman) death.

In the next episode, to be aired on Oct. 12, viewers will get to see Sarah Bunting (Daisy Lewis) build a mountain of serious problems, especially for Tom (Allen Leech). Baxter (Raquel Cassidy) becomes suspicious of an inexplicably ill Thomas (Rob James-Collier) when he goes back to Downton.

Also, Violet will finally confirm to Isabel (Penelope Wilton) that Prince Kuragin had a role in her life, too.

A big chunk of the minutes will also belong to Mary's plans on Gillingham going awry. Continuing her attempts to iron out the romantic mess completely, the indecisive lady will find herself in an incredibly awkward situation with a familiar individual from Gillingham's past.

Finally, Rose's father, Shrimpie (Peter Egan), will return with news that will stun everyone.

The episode will air on Sunday on ITV, and PBS will officially air the show in the U.S. on Jan. 4 next year.
