Christians Encouraged to Discover God's Purpose in their Work

A new course from Care for the Family aims to help Christians discover God's purpose in their jobs.

Work/life balance speaker David Oliver will take to the road this September and October with a message of encouragement for Christians feeling tired in their work lives.

"Whatever job you do - you're working full-time for God," said Oliver.

He will tour a number of towns in England including Guildford, Basingstoke and Nottingham, where he will help Christians see God at work in their places of employment.

According to Care for the Family, the 'Living for God at Work' course puts the focus on all Christians in work and not only those in paid employment or 'Christian ministry'.

Participants on the Living for God at Work course will explore how God wants to use them in their current place of work, how to use their gifts each day, ways to transform their work relationships, the God who works alongside them, and how to be sure they are in the right job.

Whether a full-time mum, voluntary worker, in part-time or full-time work, or seeking employment, Oliver believes that all Christians at work are working for God.

"I often meet people who feel that their everyday job has no value," he said. "They feel second class and that they should be doing more for God, because their work isn't based in the church.

"Through this event, we want to affirm the fact that God can use you when you're looking after the kids, being a homemaker, looking after elderly parents and crucially in the work place too."
