The 2017 BMW 5 Series is expected to be shown in all its glory this October, but the design of the highly anticipated car isn't exactly much of a secret anymore.

Based on the spy images afloat the web, a Bimmerpost forum member going by the name Paul-Bracq-BMW made renders to give car enthusiasts an idea what to expect in terms of design in the 2017 BMW 5 Series.

"As you can all see it's an evolutionary design with elements from the current 3 series (front) and 7 series (profile). The distinguishing feature of this car is the double character line on its side," Paul-Bracq-BMW wrote.

Although there appears to be slight innovation on the design and even a touch of sporty in it, the 2017 BMW 5 Series still has that familiar feel its family is known for and still heavily harks back to its predecessors.

As expected, the sixth-generation BMW 5 Series will borrow much of its design from the one that came before it, and Nashville Chatter believes that this isn't a surprise.

BMW has only been doing minor tweaks on the appearance of the BMW 5 Series, and they are all enough to best its biggest competition such as the Mercedes-Benz E class and the Audi A6.

The subtle changes that make the 2017 BMW 5 Series stand out from the rest of the clan include all-new bumpers and the merger of the headlights and the kidney grill.

As per Indian Autos Blog, the 2017 BMW 5 Series will reportedly make slight use of lightweight materials such as like carbon-fiber, magnesium, aluminium and high-tensile steel so as to scale down its weight.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series is reportedly getting an interior than the BMW 7 Series. It is also inheriting its Cluster Architecture or CLAR rear-wheel drive platform from the said line of cars.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series is expected to be launched later this year in Europe and early next year in the United States.
