Wrestlemania 31 hasn't even concluded yet but this early, the company is already planning for Wrestlemania 32. And the match they have in mind? The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) against Brock Lesnar!
Now that should be one blockbuster match considering the popularity of both wrestlers. However, it can only happen if Lesnar re-signs with the WWE.
It will be recalled that Lesnar and the WWE are currently in a stalemate as Lesnar's contract is set to expire after Wrestelmania 31. Initially there were reportedly disagreements as far as Lesnar's new contract is concerned which led many to believe that Rock's cousin, Roman Reigns, will be the new WWE heavyweight champion.
However, all that has now changed after Lesnar announced during an interview with ESPN that he had re-signed with the WWE. This was seconded by a tweet from WWE's Vince McMahon.
With that development, it looks like earlier rumors (and scripts) about Reigns conquering Lesnar may be overturned. The Beast Incarnate also added that he was training as if he was heading into an MMA match which makes the main event truly something to watch.
In the same interview, Lesnar also added that he has shut the door on any possible UFC return.
Moving forward, could this pave the way for the Rock vs. Lesnar scenario for next year's Wrestlemania? Retaining Lesnar is only one half of the puzzle. As far as the Rock is concerned, the Hollywood star did mention that he welcomes the idea of returning to the WWE. However, it may hinge on his plans and schedule.
The Rock has kept himself busy starring in various movies but a reported announcement could clear all this up on Saturday Night Live.
The Rock is expected to appear on the show this weekend where he is set to promote the movie Fast and Furious 7. But aside from that, many are speculating that he would make an announcement related to the WWE. Could this be that rumored match for Wrestlemania 32?
