The viewers have seen the crew fall into a deep sleep, and a lot of people wonder if they will ever wake up at all. As such, compared to its first season, its performance decreased by 36 percent, which the network certainly does not approve.
Furthermore, there are no more major characters to return to. After all, everyone, except Adam Hassler, has been killed off. The only way a third season will be greenlit is for Hassler to bring in something really big, which is highly unlikely considering the show's direction now.
