The official trailer for "Vikings" season 4 has been released and fans simply cannot wait to see what happens next.
The show's fan following has been consistent and with a fourth season coming, the bosses at History Channel seem to be confident in the show's future.
According to reports, Dick Hoogstra, general manager of History Channel, has hight hopes about the show's future, given that it is one of the network's most-watched right now. Hoogstra feels that even without the main character, who is the biggest driver of the story, the show will still be able to go on with the same support and positive criticism that it has already amassed.
The video featured Bible verses being read by Athelstan (George Blagden) and showed a number of different characters who are interested in taking over the throne once Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) passes.
The historical drama has been plagued with rumors, mostly concerning Ragnar's death, with some even speculating as to who will kill the mighty Viking.
Reports claim that the Bible verses read during the narration of the trailer might be prophecies for the show's characters and what is to come, particularly in relation to Ragnar's story.
For example, "One generation passes away, and another generation comes" can be taken to mean that as Ragnar's rule is closely coming to an end, Scandinavia might have to make room for a new ruler, possibly one of his sons or wives.
On the other hand, "What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?" struck fans with a few negative thoughts about the King of all Vikings. While Ragnar has led his people to many great things, including gold and silver, was all of that really worthwhile?
Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard), Ragnar's friend, also has to face his own demons. Since it is now known that he killed Athelstan, there is no certainty of his fate.
Another exciting angle is betrayal. The show has toyed with the idea and in the trailer, Ragnar's own brother Rollo (Clive Standen) looks to be planning something along those lines as he plots his revenge.
Fans will only have to wait a few months before the Norse television show comes back on air.
"Vikings" season 4 will premiere in February 2016 on History Channel.
