Sega is set to release its presumably final demo for the Japanese role-playing game "Valkyria: Azure Revolution" sometime during late December. Unlike the previous ones, the prolog demo allows the players to carry his progress over to the actual game when it launches early next year.

In a Twitter announcement from its official account, players are urged to get the trial version while emphasizing that the saved data can also be brought to the main game. Moreover, it is said to explain the plot and how it all began.

The story revolves around the azure mineral known as Ragnite that grants magical capabilities to whoever wields it. This brought about the Azure Revolution, where people crave to control such power, creating a divide among nations who wish to gain the upper hand with the Ragnite's aid.

The game consists of some interesting characters, starting with Amleth Glenkaer, the protagonist and commanding officer of an anti-Valkyria unit. He is accompanied by the princess Ophelia Jutland who possesses a strange magic invoked through song. Lastly, Brunhild is a Valkyria more popularly known as The Reaper, Anime News Network has learned.

In one of the previous interviews documented by Gematsu, it appears the game has a unique take on the way action role-playing games are made. Unlike other RPGs, there is such thing as a permanent death, which means the deceased character is totally removed from the game, making the stakes even higher. The player may choose to reload a saved file where a character is still alive in order to prevent such an event.

"We've discussed this quite a bit, but this time there is also the theme of death, and if a character doesn't die, then there isn't any fear transmitted to the player. So we've taken the plunge," director Takeshi Ozawa mentioned during the interview

"Valkyria: Azure Revolution" will be supported by PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms, and it will be released in Japan on Jan. 19, 2017.
