Fans are expecting "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" to arrive in May. Although the game's May 10 launch is only an expected release window at this point (since there has been a series of delays before), it seems that the date is already certain as the game's development gets "gold" status.

Developer Naughty Dog shared the news on Twitter, updating the fans that they are "Very glad to say #Uncharted4 has gone gold!" This means that the game has entered its final stage in development, and up next is the final version's production for the physical copies of the game and fine-tuning of the digital version.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" creative director Neil Druckmann followed this up with a tweet, this time showing what apparently is a disc copy of the game's final version.

The title going into "Gold" status is a welcome update for fans, who have been waiting for the title to finally drop since last year. Originally, Naughty Dog planned for "Uncharted 4" to roll out in 2015. However, the release period for the game has been delayed thrice since then. The release date moved to March last year, and then April this year, and Naughty Dog finally settled for a May 10 launch.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" brings to a close the adventures of its main protagonist, Nathan Drake. It is unclear whether Naughty Dog hopes to continue with the franchise with a new story.

Early peeks of the game yielded favorable remarks, with game director Bruce Straley saying, "I can't wait for you guys to play what I think is the best Uncharted of them all." Observers like Game Rant praised the game's visuals, as early game footage "...has shown Naughty Dog's careful attention to the details of character designs, environment renders, as well as overall aesthetics."
