Latest casting rumors claimed that Tom Hardy will be playing the role of Apocalypse in the upcoming "X-Men" movie.

It seemed that Tom Hardy won the guys from both Marvel and DC as he is currently linked to a lot of superhero movies from both companies. It was not long ago when his name popped up for Marvel's "Doctor Strange" and an unnamed role in DC's "Suicide Squad".

Rumors claimed that the actor is being scouted to be part of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalyse" to play the role of the main antagonist and mega mutant – Apocalypse. This powerful Egyptian mutant is also known as En Sabah Nur or "The First One". In the Marvel Universe, his back story was traced back in Ancient Egypt. Apocalypse was tagged as an enemy of Pharaoh Rama-Tut as he is first mutant that walked the Earth.

He embarked on a journey telling people that he was a god and displaying his powers. Rumors claimed that just like in the previous film, mutants will time travel and will meet apocalypse and he will become their enemy, especially of Cyclops and Jean Grey.

Tom Hardy is no stranger in playing a villain as he was dubbed as one of the best character actors. He also played the role of Batman's archenemy, Bane.

Meanwhile, actor Evan Peters who play the role of Quicksilver in last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" teased that he will be back in another film of the X-Men series. Quicksilver stole the scene at recent film. A part of the crew hinted that there will be another fun scene with Quicksilver.

"They want me to start pretty soon, on the storyboarding and stuff. I'll be working on the next X-Men for the next month or so part-time, and by the end of the year it'll be full-time... There will be another Quicksilver scene, which I'm looking forward to. That'll be fun," second unit director Brian Smrz told Newsarama.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit the movie theaters on May 27, 2016.
