"Tokyo Ghoul" fans are still waiting for any official word with regards to its third season. The production studio, Pierrot, remains mum about the release date of the show's next season. Fans are now speculating that the show will endure an extended delay due to a change in its plot.

According to an article by GameNGuide, the studio that created the first and second season will not be the one to create the third one. Madhouse will be taking over, and this is cited as one of the causes of the delay. Fans were said to be disappointed with the delay but not with the new studio.

The studio is known for its ability to infuse violence and gore into its works, which are considered as key elements in "Tokyo Ghoul." The series followers believe that Madhouse will be able to bring justice to the title since they are the ones that developed the "Death Note" and "One Punch Man" anime, and avid fans simply love the two shows. Fans also agree that the aforementioned anime series were considered a good adaptation of its manga.

Additionally, the second season of "Tokyo Ghoul" drove away from its manga counterpart. Many fans were disheartened by such a move. There were even earlier reports that the fans are requesting a reboot of the anime so that it can go back to its original storyline. However, a small percentage of its fans seem to agree with the studio, which could give way to a new storyline.

With regards to the plot, there are speculations that it will center on Ken Kaneki and Kirishima Touka. Touka will have her struggles as a college student, the anime might explore on her negative perception towards Kaneki. There are also rumors that the new season will feature Kaneki in his full Kakuja form, which will directly continue the anime's second season story. Kaneki's final form was only half-way through when the previous season ended.

Fans are also aware that the third season may not materialize at all, but they can always look forward to the live-action movie of "Tokyo Ghoul" that will be released by the summer of 2017.
