"Titanfall 2" is one of the highly anticipated first-person shooter games this year. It will be offered in both single-player and online multiplayer modes. In connection to its online multiplayer mode, Respawn Entertainment, the game developer, will also incorporate Multiplay game servers, aside from Microsoft's Azure servers. This is to ensure that connection issues will not present a nightmare when it launches a few months from now.

The game developer announced recently that they have paired with Multiplay, a U.K. based game-server hosting company, to host their game servers for their "Titanfall 2" game. This is aside from dedicated servers for physics, AI and other player-related data, which are hosted on Azure.

Jon "Slothy" Shiring, the game's lead engineer, said, "Since Titanfall 2 will have a bigger launch this time, I wanted to make sure that we have the highest possible scalability and reliability, and have low-latency, fast servers. So this time we're still running on Azure, but we're also on the other clouds as well as 'bare metal' servers running in datacenters. We want fast servers running everywhere, ready for you when you want to get into a match."

"Respawn partnered with a U.K. company called Multiplay, who have a ton of expertise in game server hosting. We have been working with them as they built a brand new service for spinning up servers on a variety of hosting services in a way that both scales at the highest rates and also provides the quality of experience that we demand. This isn't something that EA had already built," Shiring added.

He also mentioned that they are trying out other hosting companies out there with other datacenters, which include Google and Amazon, and are trying out every possible setup with each server. All they want to happen is to keep the game running even if an entire cloud server goes offline, a great offering for its players.

A Mulitplayer Tech Test is also scheduled before the full launch, which will let the studio try out the new server setup before making the game go full public. They are now inviting interested players to participated in the said test.

"Titanfall 2" is slated to arrive on Oct. 28 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
