"The Last of Us" fans have been wondering for the past three years if a game sequel is already in the works or not. The answer is, nobody really knows.

There have been a lot of speculations running around the community about the "Last of Us 2." Developer Naughty Dog remained tight-lipped about it. Sony Computer Entertainment, its publisher, also remains quite about the subject. But there are many signs that fans believe are indications that a sequel is really coming out, one day.

The 2013 post-apocalyptic action-adventure survival horror game was already remastered back in 2014, which is now being offered on Amazon for a low price of US$10. From the point-of-view of the fans, this is a sign that the sequel is being developed, and it should be out in a few years.

Another indication that a sequel is imminent was seen in "Uncharted 4." Two Easter eggs were inserted by the developer.

One is the easily recognizable poster that says "The Last of US American Daughters" with an image, believed to be of Ellie, wearing a gas mask and holding a pistol. Fans recognized the handgun that is similar to what Joel used in the game.

The second one is the strange pendant that can be picked up in Chapter 9 which displayed a symbol and the word "Druckley" at the back. The symbol is the crest of the Fireflies, the revolutionary militia group in "The Last of Us" game, and the name is a combination of the co-directors name for both games. Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley.

Last year, a former Naughty Dog developer's resumé was uncovered online, that dictates that he has taken part in the early development of the game sequel. It created a lot of hype within the community, reviving rumors that the sequel is already in development. Prior to this, Druckmann said that there is a 50 percent chance of having a sequel created for the game.

Now, fans are hoping the there is a better chance of having "The Last of Us 2."
