'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date: 'Skyrim' sequel will not be out anytime soon

"The Elder Scrolls 6" still has a long way off, as revealed by Bethesda Game Studios. The studio will first release two massive titles before starting work on the highly-anticipated "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" sequel.

Speaking to GameStar, Bethesda's vice president for Marketing and Public Relations Pete Hines reiterated in Gamescom that there will be "two big games" before they "get around" the next "Elder Scrolls" iteration.

This means that, while "The Elder Scrolls 6" is already official, it will be a while before Bethesda will put the development for it into action. Hines even noted that fans should not expect the game to be featured in the next two years.

He stated that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will not be in next year's Gamescom and the one after that, suggesting that two years after the game was announced, it still won't see the light of day.

This is, for the most part, because Bethesda will be busy on the couple of titles it intends to release. It is said that these games are as huge in story and gameplay as "The Elder Scrolls" and "Fallout" games.

That being said, it will take years for these games alone to be launched. It usually takes them at least four years to put out an installment for the said game series.

"Skyrim" was released in 2011, which means that fans have been waiting for "The Elder Scrolls 6" for more than half a decade now. The wait will certainly not be over soon.

As far as the "Elder Scrolls" franchise is concerned, Bethesda has its focus on "The Elder Scrolls Online," which will be brought to the PlayStation 4 Pro, where it will run a stellar 4K resolution.

Hines stated on Twitter in reply to a fan that the game will not affect the development of "The Elder Scrolls 6," although this would not change things in terms of the release timing.

"The studio is working on what they want to work on. They have other plans before they get to TES6," Hines tweeted.
