'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date news: Game still on the agenda but still a few years off

Fans were happy learn that "The Elder Scroll 6" is still in the big plan of developer Bethesda. However, gamers are hugely disappointed that it is not part of the immediate plan, and could take a few more years before the sixth installment of the series comes out.

According to studio vice president Pete Hines, the company has been known not to announce any project that is years away from launching, just to build the hype, it is not the way the company works. Hines said to PC Gamer earlier, "The motivation came from both sides. Anything we want to do from a PR-marketing perspective always has implications on the devs, right? Whether that's trying to capture video or trying to put together a demo: it's an additional ask above and beyond just working on the game."

He also added, "You're not going to be hearing first details on [Elder Scrolls 6] years before the game comes out, absolutely not. It's not the next thing we're doing nor the thing we're even doing after that."

Fans should also not expect any news on next year's Gamescom or the next one. Bethesda Game Studios has two more huge games up on their sleeves before finally able to take care of "the Elder Scrolls 6," Hines said during an interview with Game Star.

Meanwhile, there are also speculations the next installment could possibly be VR compatible. The game is still a few years away and Bethesda has all the time to make it happen. The company has already showed off "Fallout 4" and "DOOM" in a virtual reality world during this year's E3. Gaming Bolt reported previously that "Fallout 4" will be available next year on the HTC Vive and will be followed soon by other games. So this is not farfetched.

For the meantime, while fans are waiting for "The Elder Scrolls 6" to happen, they keep themselves busy with "The Elder Scrolls: Legends," a collectible card video game, which is now in beta and can be played for free. They can also look out for "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition" that will be released on Oct. 28 and will include mod support.
