The conclusion of the two-part finale of "The Blacklist" season 3 is just around the corner, but fans are still hoping that Liz (Megan Boone) is actually alive so she can return for season 4.

In the episode titled "Mr. Solomon: Conclusion," Liz died after her emergency Caesarian operation to save her baby after she and husband Tom (Ryan Eggold) escaped Solomon's (Edi Gathegi) assassination plot. But fans still refuse to believe that Red (James Spader) has really lost his partner.

TV Guide speculated that Liz may still be alive since her death was not actually seen on screen. This could be an unlikely way to kill off one of the main characters of a TV series, since Liz's death was handled very casually.

The publication also pointed out that fans are still kept in the dark about Red and Liz's connection to each other. It has been a mystery since the FBI informant entered her life in season 1. But the most possible clue that Liz is actually alive is the probability that Boone's character was given a chance to take a break from the series so she can take her maternity leave by faking her death.

However, there is no confirmation yet regarding Liz's possible return to the series after season 3. The network remains mum about Boone's participation in the series after the actress gives birth in real life.

But series creator Jon Bokenkamp told Golden Spiral Media in an exclusive interview that fans have a lot to look forward to in "The Blacklist" season 4.

"We've got a lot of story to tell," the series creator said.

Some of the possible plots for the next season include the possible revelation of Liz and Red's real relationship, as well as the story behind her mysterious mother.

NBC has yet to announce the premiere date for "The Blacklist" season 4, but the last part of the season 3 finale airs on Thursday, May 19.
