'Suicide Squad' spoilers: Leaks reveal close connection within DC Universe, director says surprises 'still intact'

"Suicide Squad" is gaining traction in the media even though its scheduled release is still a year away. Interestingly, the driving force behind its increasing exposure is the massive leaks that are going around about its cast, plot, and other details that would have been better kept a secret until its premiere.

However, film director David Ayer is confident that there is still more in the movie that will capture the imagination of moviegoers come August 2016.

A tweet by Ayer reads, "Well we survived the streets. Time to go dark now. Remember, only the tiniest glimpse has been exposed. Our surprises are intact."

"Suicide Squad" will likely have one larger-than-life villain. A photo captured on the set of the film shows a plane with a letter "L" on its tail section – perhaps a reference to "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" supervillain Lex Luthor. If the speculations are true, this adds a deeper connection between the two movies.

Bruce Wayne is also believed to play a pivotal role in the film because actor Ben Affleck was seen on the set looking rich and ready to do business, as revealed by What Culture in its spoiler alert writeup. Although it is known that Batman will be appearing in "Suicide Squad," Wayne's appearance is still suspect. Batman himself is out to get the Joker, as shown in a leaked photo posted by IGN of the Caped Crusader on top of a brightly colored car driven by the villain.

Dr. Harleen Quinzel who will eventually become Harley Quinn is not as meek and reserved as the original character in the comics. Dr. Quinzel is seen cruising around on a big bike doing some pretty wild stunts. The Joker's relationship with Harley Quinn will also be dissected in the movie but the doctor-turned-villain will reportedly develop some romance with another guy, Deadshot.
