Tim Miller will be the executive producer for the upcoming adaptation of "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie for Sony Pictures. This was after it was made known that the director will not be taking the helm again for the sequel of the highly successful "Deadpool."

The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that aside from Miller, Jeff Fowler will be directing the film, a first for him, while Neal H. Moritz, known for "The Fast and the Furious" franchise, will be the producer. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller will be in charge of the script.

"Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts. The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character," T. Miller said.

"Sonic The Hedgehog" movie is planned to be a hybrid film, a combination of CG-animation and live-action, and categorically, to be a family film. The game is about Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, who runs around collecting points and items in order to stop the evil plans of Doctor Eggman Robotnik from dominating the world.

Tim and Fowler are from Blur Studios, an animation company based in California. The duo has been quite familiar with designing and creating visual effects for games since they were the ones responsible for producing CG trailers and adverts for AAA games like "Titanfall 2," "Dishonored 2," "Doom," and "Mafia III." Their studio is also responsible for the "Halo 2" cinematic for the "Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Engadget reported.

However, for "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie, Marza Animation Planet will handle the CG animation that is owned by Sega. Sony Pictures will be the movie outfit, which is another Japanese company.

Aside from Moritz, Marza's Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi are also joining in as producers. Toby Ascher will share the executive producer title with Miller. Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of DJ2 Entertainment are co-producing the movie.

It was previously reported that Miller decided to quit the "Deadpool" sequel due to creative differences between him and Ryan Reynolds, the actor in the titular Marvel movie.

A premiere date for the "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie is yet to be announced.
