The time to be childishly innocent and silly is near, thanks to the latest teaser trailer of "Smurfs: The Lost Village." From the looks of it, fans of the cuddly blue critters are in for a different kind of adventure.
The new Smurfs film will be a fully animated movie, contrary to the previous live-action/ animated takes on the story. This time, the plot delves into the smurf community and the possibilities of finding more of their kind.
In the latest cinematic trailer, Smurfette says that she may have encountered someone that looks like them beyond the forbidden forest. The being she met drops a map, which she thinks could lead to a rumored village. She urges the others to go and check, but Papa Smurf stops them. Unfazed, Smurfette, along with her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty, defy his warning and steps into a magical world filled with surprises.
The teaser took the internet by storm, leading to speculations one after the other. /FILM thinks that since the narrator emphasized on Smurfette being the only girl, they could come across a village populated by women. It is a possibility, or it could simply be the narrator acting funny when he got people predicting he'll say blue, instead he just pointed out they are all dudes.
Another angle could be finding beings almost similar to them, with the minor difference that they may be differently colored. Perhaps the reason they hide is because they feel that blue is the normal color, and here comes a tribe of smurfs who is colored, say, yellow. Maybe something went wrong along the way?
Either way, the teaser did its job well by piquing the interest of the viewers. The voice cast features Demi Lovato as Smurfette, Mandy Patinkin as Papa Smurf, Joe Manganiello as Hefty, Jack McBrayer as Clumsy, Danny Pudi as Brainy, and Rainn Wilson as Gargamel.
"Smurfs: The Lost Village" will be coloring the theaters blue on April 7, 2017.
