Tony Goldwyn, better known as the dashing and very problematic President Fitz, directed last week's "Scandal" season 5 episode, where Olivia dropped the bomb on the press that she is a mistress of the president. Goldywn starred and helmed the episode, which he revealed wasn't at all an easy feat.

"It's a challenge, but it's really fun. I've got tons of support. And it's doing it on 'Scandal,' it's like we're a family," the actor told ABC News. It isn't the first time Goldwyn directed an episode for the series, though, and he reveals that the producers and director Tom Verica also helps out.

Meanwhile, talking about the course "Scandal" season 5 is taking following the shocking and damaging confession of Olivia that understandably sent the White House and the press into a frenzy, Goldwyn says that it will just get tougher for Liv and Fitz individually and as a couple.

"What's so amazing about this season is we're getting to see what it means for Liv and Fitz to be together. It's rough. It's gonna be brutal," the actor stated. "And Olivia said 'yes' so I'm happy about that," he added, which could mean that there's still something positive to be taken out of the bombshell.

For now though, it looks like "Scandal" season 5 will be cruel to Liv and Fitz. Mellie has vowed to "destroy" her, knowing how great an embarrassment the revelation is with regard to her being the First Lady.

The synopsis for episode 3, which airs tomorrow on ABC at 9 p.m. ET, is as follows:

"Olivia and Fitz face some very big consequences and Mellie brings in an old friend to make sure she gets her way. Meanwhile, Abby shows Olivia she is fully capable of handling working at the White House."
