The world of video games won't be complete without the likes of arcade fighting games such as "Street Fighter," "Tekken," and "Dead or Alive." Following suit, SNK's own classic "Samurai Shodown VI" is making its way to the PlayStation 4 platform today, Nov. 22, 2016.

The PlayStation blog post has announced a few days ago that some all-time favorites from previous console versions will be revived today via digital download for North America. "Samurai Shodown VI" is one of the titles that will be getting a PS2-on-PS4 support, a feature almost similar to the backward compatibility of Microsoft's Xbox One with the difference that the Sony version skips the PS3.

The PS2-on-PS4 support is a great way for loyal PlayStation fans to once again play games in the previous consoles without the need to get a physical copy. It could also give a chance to new players to experience the game without looking for a PS2.

The game will consist of a 52-character roster, wherein four of which are EX characters made available to the player once conditions are met. To add to that, the "Devil," "Beast," and "Ritual" spirits will also be awarded to the player as soon as certain prerequisites are achieved, according to Gematsu.

Aside from a huge roster and visual upgrades for PS4, Twinfinite has learned that the relaunched game will also receive trophy support. This means that the digital version will also have challenges to overcome to net bragging rights, which will be recorded to the player's PlayStation network profile.

"Samurai Shodown VI" will feature characters and an environment rendered both in 2D and 3D. The said title's last release in North America was a decade ago, thus a comeback this year is much needed.

No news has been gathered regarding the price of the digital download, although it will usually range around $10 to $20, GameSpot speculates.
