Samsung Galaxy S6 vs ASUS ZenFone 2 specs comparison: A draw made in heaven for smartphone fans

Samsung's flagship phone, the Galaxy S6, and the new ZenFone 2 from ASUS are interesting phones so comparing them should be an exciting undertaking. The Galaxy S6 has a lot more to prove, thanks to its hefty price. The ZenFone 2, meanwhile, is not an easy opponent because of its huge 4 GB RAM and amazingly low price. But to better judge the value proposition of these phones, the key questions should be: is the Galaxy S6 worthy of its price tag? Is the ASUS ZenFone 2 the bargain that it claims to be?

The display of the ASUS ZenFone 2 is 0.4 inch larger than that of the S6. But the size difference is quickly neutralized by the technologies used between the two screens. The ZenFone 2 has an IPS LCD FHD display that packs 1920 x 1080 pixels (403 ppi). The S6, on the other hand, has a Quad HD Super AMOLED display that packs 2560 x 1440 pixels (577 ppi). The S6 wins by a huge margin in the display war.

When it comes to processing speed, the contest gets more competitive. It is here that the ASUS offering is expected to make a stand with its larger RAM. The ZenFone 2 has a 64-bit Intel Atom quad-core processor with a rated speed of 2.3 GHz. This is coupled with a 4 GB RAM and a 64 GB internal memory expandable via microSD. In one glance, this should really pack a punch.

However, the S6 has the 64-bit Exynos octa-core processor that boasts four cores at 1.5 Ghz and another four cores at 2.1 GHz. This is coupled with the 3 GB DDR4 RAM which is a quicker platform than what is in the ZenFone 2. Samsung's device also has the faster UFS 2.0 flash memory in 32 GB/ 64 GB/ 128 GB configurations although this is not expandable. So who wins in the speed battle? It seems the Galaxy S6 got this in the bag, too.

Going back to the original premise, is the Galaxy S6 worth the cosumers' money? The answer is a definite yes. The technologies used in this phone are just superb. Is the ZenFone 2 the bargain that it claims to be? The answer to that is also a big yes. The technologies afforded by the price point of this ASUS phone are truly above expectations.
