Ronda Rousey has yet to find herself a schedule back in the UFC Octagon, but possible opponents are already throwing shades at her.
After hearing news that the former undefeated UFC Women's bantamweight champion will return to UFC by the end of the year, UFC star Julianna Pena said that Rousey is not a threat to the professional MMA industry anymore.
"She's like the emperor in no clothes [and] she's broken a little bit," Pena told TMZ when she was asked about her opinion regarding Rousey's possible return this year. "I just think that nobody cares about Ronda Rousey and her fat arms anymore."
Pena's anger might have been triggered by the rumors of Rousey's return since there are speculations that UFC president Dana White promised her a title shot in case the 29-year-old MMA fighter-actress decides to return to the UFC Octagon later this year. After beating Cat Zingano during the UFC 200, Pena believes that she deserves to be given the title match above everyone else.
"No one deserves this title shot more than me," Pena stated.
Rousey was last seen in the UFC Octagon during the main event of the UFC 193 in November 2015 when she lost to Holly Holm. She was ordered a medical suspension by UFC shortly after the fight, including a no-contact suspension for 45 days and no fights for 60 days. The laboratory tests cleared her medically in December 2015, but her suspensions continued.
Speculations about the former bantamweight champion's return in November was further reinforced by MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani on Twitter, saying that the Octagon is being prepared for her comeback in the coming months.
"Nothing is for certain or set in stone yet, but there continues to be increased optimism regarding Ronda Rousey's return," the reported said.
UFC has yet to confirm Rousey's return.
