'Quantum Break' news: Microsoft's new game churning great sales figures; PC version has some issues

Microsoft recently launched "Quantum Break" for the Xbox One and Windows PC and many will agree that it is a great game. The company is also happy with its sales performance; however, the PC port of the game is suffering from some issues and the developer is looking into it.

The Redmond-based tech giant is happy that their new IP is doing great and being liked by fans.  This, of course, translates to big sales, which will make any business happy.

"We're delighted that Quantum Break has been so well received by fans and critics," said Jon Edney, Xbox Studios senior category manager, as quoted by VG247.  "It's a testament to the hard work, ambition and commitment of the team at Remedy that the game is already surpassing expectations."

Well-known websites have reviewed the game and have given it pretty decent scores.  These include
Polygon, which gave 8.5 of 10; PostArcade with 7 of 10; Giant Bomb with 2 of 5; IGN with 8 of 10; Gamespot with 6 of 10;  and Destructoid with 8.5 of 10.

Eurogamer added that "Quantum Break" is United Kingdom's best-selling boxed game for the week.  It beat Codemaster's three-platform game "Dirt Rally" by 139 sales.  "The Division" comes in third, "FIFA 16" in the fourth position and "Far Cry Primal" in the fifth place.

The "Quantum Break" plot basically centers on time.  Jack Joyce, the main character, has the ability to manipulate time in his favor, like slowing down the ticking of a clock so he can dodge bullets, creating some sort of a time-shield, and several more. Players like the new and fresh concept, especially the live-action episodes included in the storyline.

The game was originally an exclusive title for the Xbox One, but Microsoft decided to port it to the Windows 10 PC.  This is where the problem starts: the ported version suffers from visual artifact, ghosting, screen-tearing and a few more. Remedy, the game developer, already admitted that the current issues in the PC-ported version will never be fixed by a patch, that it has more to do with the graphics engine, ExtremeTech reported.

"Ghosting is just a result of the temporal reconstruction. Just the way we render things," Thomas Puha, PR head at Remedy, said.

"Quantum Break" is now available for the Xbox One and Windows PC for US$59.95.  Xbox One purchases will include a PC copy for free.
