The 38-year-old actress will join lead stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell in the nine-episode series revival. The actors will reprise their roles as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, respectively.

Fox co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden said (via TVLine) that the revival of "Prison Break" will delve into the events that happened at the end of season 4 seven years ago, where Scofield was believed to have died.

According to a press release from Fox, "In the drama's new chapter, which picks up after Michael's apparent death, Sara has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael's child with her new husband (previously announced guest star Mark Feuerstein). When clues surface that suggest Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series' biggest escape ever. Additional casting to be announced."

Other cast members appearing in "Prison Break" season 5 have been revealed. They include "The Borgias" star Augustus Prew, who will portray the role of the funny and very smart character named Whip, and "Marco Polo" actor Rick Yune, who will play the role of the unkempt-looking and genius Korean identity thief named. "The Secret Life of Us" star Steve Mouzakis was also confirmed to join the show as the character named Van Gogh.

Other original cast members Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, and Amaury Nolasco will also reprise their roles as T-Bag, C-Note, and Sucre in the upcoming "Prison Break" revival. The cameras will begin rolling in Vancouver, Canada in April.
