Six years ago, "Prison Break" fans thought that Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield's story has come to an end after four seasons of the beloved crime-thriller drama. But this changes with FOX's announcement of the development of "Prison Break" season 5.
Lead stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who went on to star in "The Flash" as villain duo Captain Cold and Heat Wave, will be back for another round of action. However, there's the dilemma of how the show will continue since Scofield died in season 4.
According to Starpulse, FOX will explain that by showing that Scofield only faked his death. A "logical and believable explanation" for that will be laid out in "Prison Break" season 5 so that the series could seamlessly continue the story abandoned in 2009.
Meanwhile, fans are wondering if Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Scofield's wife Dr. Sara Tancredi, will also reprise her role in "Prison Break" season 5. The actress has confirmed last September that she was in talks with FOX regarding her return but nothing was set in stone.
Callies told Forbes that she will be back "if the material is either worthy of the faith that the fans put in it or it's not." She added, "I don't want to do something that feels like a reunion because it would be cool to get the band back together. I want to do something because there's more story to tell."
She adds that if "Prison Break" season 5 will be able to "honor" fans, she could very well suit up as Dr. Sara Tancredi once again. The last time fans saw her, she was a widow raising her and Scofield's child while mourning her husband's death.
With Scofield revealed to be alive, it would be interesting to see how this revelation will impact Sara's life and everyone around Scofield.
"Prison Break" season 5 is set to premiere in March.
