Princess Charlotte's christening news update: Details revealed

It has been a month since Kate Middleton gave birth to Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, her second child with Prince William. Since the little princess' birth on May 2 and her public debut on the same day, royal watchers have yet to get another glimpse of her as she and her brother Prince George are currently enjoying some quiet time with their parents at Anmer Hall.

One thing that the royal family's fans can be assured of is that they'll see the princess on her christening day. Insiders told People Magazine that they are expecting the ceremony to take place before Princess Charlotte's great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, heads to Scotland for her annual break in July.

The palace has not yet released an official date for the occasion, but the late summer date would put it within the three months or so that most couples choose to have their children christened.

Another reason why the Cambridges are reportedly going to have Princess Charlotte baptized before she is three months old is because she will still be small enough to fit into the traditional christening robe that royal babies have been wearing in recent years. The hand-made gown, which was designed by the Queen's assistant Angela Kelly and made by Buckingham Palace's team of workers in 2008 was based on a gown commissioned by Queen Victoria in the 19th century.

The ceremony is to be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and will reportedly take place over the silver 17-inch high Lily Font made in 1841 for the christening of Princess Royal Victoria.

Meanwhile, fans of the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge are eagerly awaiting the release of an official family photo. According to The Sunday Times, a new photo could be released any day now as Princess Charlotte is now roughly the same age as Prince George when a family photo taken by the duchess' father, Michael Middleton, was released in 2013. The newspaper reports that an additional photo of Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be released sometime in July.
