PlayStation 4 Pro news: leak teases packaging design ahead of device's launch

Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro is already arriving at retailers, and several images of its packaging have been uploaded online. It remains to be seen if the mid-generation console will perform perfectly as advertised by the company.

The famous insider, Shinobi602, posted on NeoGAF several images that show the packaging of the new PlayStation 4 Pro as it arrives at a retailer, reportedly at a Walmart. store. The box containing the new video game console is pretty standard and looks similar to the packaging of the original PlayStation 4. Likewise, the features are listed on the back side of the box. It also shows that the soon-to-be-released device is not capable of delivering every game in 4K resolution.

The PlayStation 4 Pro contains a higher speed processor and an upgraded video graphics card that can produce 4.2 TFLOPS of computing power. This only not make it capable of producing a 4K output, but HDR as well. It is also capable of supporting internet streaming channels like Netflix and YouTube. However, it does not include support for Blue-Ray UHD disc.

Previously, Mark Cerny, the system architect of the console, explained to Eurogamer about the achievement of their hardware. Its GPU is actually composed of two chips, and the machine can decide if it needs to use both or only one for the game.

Cerny said: "First, we doubled the GPU size by essentially placing it next to a mirrored version of itself, sort of like the wings of a butterfly. That gives us an extremely clean way to support the existing 700 titles. We just turn off half the GPU and run it at something quite close to the original GPU."

Meanwhile, Cerny is said to be attending a media event called "Future of Play," to share additional technical details about their upcoming game device. The event will happen in London on Nov. 2 and 3, and it will showcase many new games. Some of the speculated games to be featured are: "Horizon: Zero Dawn," "Days Gone," "Gran Turismo Sport," "NIOH," and "Call of Duty: Warfare Infinite, reported by WCCFTech.

The PlayStation 4 Pro will be available starting Nov. 10 for $399.
