Johnny Depp's character, Jack Sparrow, is set to make a comeback to the silver screen with the latest installment of the pirate saga, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." The newest pirate film aims to go back to the original storyline that made the franchise a huge hit worldwide.
The fourth film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," was all kinds of awkward and was arguably the weakest in the series. "Dead Men Tell No Tales" will attempt to return to its roots while bringing a new villain to wreak havoc in the seven seas.
According to Movie Pilot, the story revolves around a certain Captain Salazar who returns from the Devil's Triangle and brings a ghostly pirate crew with him. His goal is to settle the score with Jack Sparrow, whom he believes is responsible for the death of his brother. In order to survive Salazar's incoming onslaught, Jack endeavors to find the Trident of Poseidon and stumbles upon Carina Smyth, a new heroine of the movie.
The newest installment aims to breathe new life into the saga by combining both old characters and fresh new faces. Aside from Johnny Depp reprising his role as Jack Sparrow, Kevin McNally also returns as Jack's trusty right-hand man, Gibbs. Captain Barbossa, Geoffrey Rush's pirate character, is set to make a comeback as well. Orlando Bloom, who plays Will Turner who turned into the new Davy Jones during the third film, is also splashing into action. Unfortunately, his love interest Elizabeth, played by Keira Knightley, won't be returning.
New additions to the crew are expected to make the ride even bumpier. Spanish actor Javier Bardem will be taking on the role of Captain Salazar, the movie's main antagonist. Kaya Scodelario, known for playing Teresa in "The Maze Runner," joins in as the aspiring astronomer, Carina Smyth. An interesting theory is thought of in Brenton Thwaites' character, Henry, who everyone assumes may be Elizabeth and Will's son.
Meanwhile, Empire reported that the fifth installment will be taking on a different name in other parts of the world. The movie will be dubbed as "Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge" in the United Kingdom, while fans in France, Italy, and Spain will see it as "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Revenge of Salazar."
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is set to be released on May 26, 2017.
